BMW 4 Series Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Slim SL6
The BMW 4 Series pairs a sporty chassis with a luxury cabin, but its stock floating calipers can leave drivers guessing under hard braking at speed. A lot of owners describe the same moment: stomp the pedal at highway speed and the car feels like it's still coasting before the brakes actually bite. This build swaps in a TTSPORT Slim Series SL6 six-piston front kit to close that gap.
The hesitation isn't imagination — it's how a single-piston floating caliper works. It has to slide on pins and squeeze the pad against the rotor through a smaller contact patch, which builds in flex and lag before full clamping force arrives. A fixed, multi-piston caliper pushes pads from both sides simultaneously, cutting that delay out of the equation.
For this car the goal was straightforward: keep the factory 18-inch wheels, keep the daily-driver manners, and get rid of the mushy, delayed feel at the pedal. The TTSPORT SL6 was chosen specifically because it's built to fit under OEM-size wheels without spacers or offset changes.

Why It Works
- Forged two-piece body: a rigid caliper doesn't flex under clamping load the way a stock floating unit can, so pedal pressure translates more directly into stopping force.
- 355mm rotor: more swept area and mass than the factory disc means more surface to shed heat and more leverage for the pads to work against.
- Direct-fit geometry: the SL6's 350 x 135 x 120mm envelope was sized to clear factory 17-18 inch wheels, so this 4 Series didn't need spacers or a wheel swap to run it.
- Six-piston, progressive layout: staged piston sizes give a softer initial bite for everyday driving with a firmer, more confident response as pedal pressure increases.
