5440 Forged 4-Piston Caliper with Race-Spec Castellated Pistons

Engineered for the track, refined for the street. The 5440 large four-piston caliper delivers an exceptionally firm and responsive pedal feel for drivers who demand instant feedback. Its symmetrical, forged construction is scientifically lightened to provide an optimal balance of high strength and low weight.

For maximum thermal performance, the 5440 comes equipped with race-spec castellated pistons. This design minimizes contact with the brake pad, significantly reducing heat transfer to the brake fluid. Paired with ultra-high-temperature seals, this caliper offers incredible resistance to brake fade and ensures stable, powerful bite under the most demanding conditions. It is a premier high-performance upgrade for small-to-midsize sedans, SUVs, and MPVs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are "castellated pistons" and why are they better?
Castellated (or "star-type") pistons have grooved cutouts on their contact surface. This design significantly reduces the surface area touching the brake pad's backplate, which drastically lowers heat transfer from the hot pad to the caliper and brake fluid. This is a race-proven technology that provides superior resistance to brake fade during intense, repeated use.
This caliper has no dust boots. Is that okay for street use?
The 5440 is a track-focused caliper. The absence of dust boots allows for ultra-high-temperature seals that can withstand extreme heat without melting. While this maximizes track performance, it does mean the caliper pistons require more frequent inspection and cleaning to prevent debris buildup, especially if driven regularly on the street.
How does the 5440 compare to the 5430 caliper?
Both are high-performance 4-piston calipers. The 5430 is designed as a robust, all-around street performance upgrade with dust boots for daily usability. The 5440 is its track-oriented sibling, featuring castellated pistons and no dust boots for maximum heat resistance at the expense of requiring more frequent maintenance.

Brake Kit Purchase Notice

  • Custom‑made products cannot be returned unless there is a genuine quality defect.
  • Spacer requirements vary depending on wheel design; we assist with fitment, but spacer‑related issues do not qualify for returns.

1. Disclaimer

  1. Please provide vehicle make, model year, VIN, and wheel size before ordering TTSPORT products.
  2. Confirm wheel measurements and submit photos as requested — TTSPORT is not liable for issues arising from incorrect specs.
  3. All products are inspected before shipping. Inspect upon delivery and report quality issues within 24 hours.

2. Initial Break‑In Procedure

  1. In a safe area, brake from 60 km/h to 10 km/h with moderate pressure—repeat 10 times.
  2. Drive 500–1,000 km with light to moderate usage before full braking performance. Avoid aggressive stops.
  3. Our high‑carbon steel discs have grooved, color‑treated surfaces to help quick bedding and resist corrosion.

3. Product Warranty

  • Calipers: 1‑year warranty on defects. Lifetime maintenance available (parts charged).
  • Discs & Hoses: 90‑day warranty for defects. Expected lifespan: 40,000–60,000 km.
  • Brake Pads: 90‑day coverage. Typical lifespan: 20,000–40,000 km.
  • Custom Hats/Brackets: Fit guaranteed; no warranty post-installation.

4. Usage & Maintenance

  1. Do not wash immediately after hard braking to prevent rotor warpage.
  2. Allow extra stopping distance when driving in wet conditions.
  3. If you experience unusual noise or vibration, consult your installer immediately.

Recommended service intervals:

  • Replace rotors when wear exceeds 3 mm.
  • Front pads: every 30,000 km.
  • Rear pads: every 50,000–60,000 km.
  • Brake fluid: every 40,000 km or every 2 years.
