BMW X5 (G05) Upgraded with TTSPORT Evolution EB8 Big Brake Kit

24 Oct 2025

The BMW X5 (G05) is a masterpiece of engineering. Whether you pilot the potent 40i or the V8 M60i, you are commanding a 5,000-pound luxury SUV that accelerates with the ferocity of a sports car. But therein lies the physics problem: it weighs 5,000 pounds.

The first time you really have to stand on the stock M-Sport brakes from highway speeds, you find the weak link. The pedal gets soft, stopping distances stretch uncomfortably long, and your confidence evaporates. Furthermore, if you have opted for the gorgeous 21-inch or 22-inch wheels, the stock calipers look... underwhelming. They simply don't match the "M" pedigree.

This "beast" deserves brakes that can tame it. That is why we engineered the TTSPORT EB8 8-Piston Balanced Brake Solution.

The Balanced 8-Piston Upgrade

This isn't just a "front kit" swap, which can dangerously shift your brake bias forward. This is a balanced system engineered specifically for heavy, high-performance SUVs.

  • Platform: BMW X5 (G05 / G18)
  • Wheel Size: 21-inch (Required for clearance)
  • Front Axle: TTSPORT EB8 8-Piston Forged Calipers w/ 405mm (16.0") 2-Piece Rotors
  • Rear Axle: TTSPORT 370mm (14.5") Enlarged 2-Piece Rotors (Retains stock EPB caliper)
  • The Kit: Includes custom hub-centric brackets, high-performance pads, and stainless steel lines.

Why the EB8 is a True "M" Caliper

The Evolution Series EB8 is our flagship caliper for heavy vehicles. Its performance advantage comes from two distinct engineering choices:

1. Motorsport-Derived 4-Pad Design

Most 8-piston calipers use two long brake pads. The EB8 uses four individual brake pads per caliper (one pad per pair of pistons). This "pad-per-piston" architecture ensures perfectly even pressure distribution across the massive 405mm rotor surface. The result is zero pad taper, more consistent bite, and superior heat management.

2. Balanced Rear Rotors

By upgrading the rear to a 370mm (14.5") 2-piece rotor, we maintain the X5's sophisticated front-to-rear brake bias. This prevents the "nose-dive" effect common in heavy SUVs and keeps the chassis flat and stable under hard braking—giving you the control you expect from a luxury vehicle.

BMW X5 Upgrade FAQ

1. Will the EB8 fit my factory wheels?

This kit utilizes massive 405mm rotors. It requires 20-inch wheels as a minimum, but we strongly recommend 21-inch wheels for the best clearance and aesthetic proportion. Please download our fitment template to confirm spoke clearance before ordering.

2. Why use 4 pads instead of 2?

In 8-piston calipers, long single pads often suffer from "taper wear" (wearing unevenly). By splitting the friction material into 4 smaller pads, each section is pressed independently by its own pistons, ensuring 100% contact patch utilization and longer pad life.

3. Does this retain the factory Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)?

Yes. Our rear kit is a "Rotor Upgrade" that includes an enlarged 2-piece rotor and a relocation bracket for your factory rear caliper. This means you keep your OEM caliper, your EPB functionality, and your factory ABS logic, but gain the leverage and cooling of a larger 370mm rotor.
