Drift Champion Wang Qi Tests TTSPORT Calipers in Harbin Snow
This past winter, Harbin's snow-covered streets turned into a proving ground for TTSPORT's drift-spec calipers, with Guinness World Record holder and DRS Drift Team driver Wang Qi behind the wheel.
A Snow-Covered Proving Ground in Harbin
Wang Qi holds the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous drift, a 5,802.3-meter run, and races for the Guansu Sports DRS Drift Team. For this test, his team took a car fitted with TTSPORT drift calipers out onto packed snow and ice, where grip is unpredictable and every input has to be precise.
The front axle ran a TTSPORT DRT4 four-piston caliper matched to a 325mm curved-vane rotor. Front brakes see the heaviest load during a drift entry, so caliper stiffness and rotor heat capacity matter as much as raw clamping force.
The rear got a dual-caliper layout: two TTSPORT DRT4 four-piston calipers sharing a single 325mm curved rotor. That setup lets the driver run a separate hydraulic circuit for the drift (e-brake) function alongside the main service brake, a common trick in serious drift builds where rear lockup needs to be instant and repeatable.
Why Brakes Decide a Drift on Ice
Braking on snow and ice isn't about maximum stopping power the way it is on a dry circuit. It's about consistency and feel. Low-friction surfaces mean the tires break loose easily, so the caliper has to deliver the same bite every time the pedal is touched, whether the driver is trail-braking into a corner or kicking the rear out. A caliper that flexes under load, or a rotor that overheats and glazes, changes that bite mid-run and makes the car unpredictable exactly when the driver needs it least.

A rigid four-piston caliper body resists that flex, keeping pad-to-rotor contact consistent lap after lap, run after run. That's what gives a drift driver the pedal feel to modulate the rear precisely instead of guessing where the bite point lands.
Wang Qi ran the car through a series of transitions and long, sustained drifts, testing how the calipers handled repeated hard stops and initiations on a surface with almost no consistent grip.
Through the test, the caliper setup held its bite through both high-speed drift entries and sharp, sudden stops, giving Wang Qi a stable base to work from as he adjusted angle and speed on the fly.
Extreme Weather, Proven Performance
