Toyota Highlander Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 8703S

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The Toyota Highlander is a big, roomy three-row SUV, and that extra size comes with extra weight the stock brakes weren't really built to shed in a hurry. Under repeated hard stops or a full load of passengers and cargo, the factory calipers and rotors give up bite well before you'd like them to. This build tackles that with a full front-and-rear TTSPORT upgrade.

Toyota Highlander with TTSPORT big brake kit installed behind an 18-inch wheel

The owner went with an 18-inch wheel-compatible setup: a TT8703S forged six-piston caliper up front on a 355x32mm rotor, and a TT8901 forged four-piston caliper out back on a 355x28mm rotor. Front and rear rotors are drilled and Dacromet-coated for corrosion resistance and heat management.

Why It Works

TTSPORT TT8703S forged six-piston front caliper mounted on Toyota Highlander

TT8703S is TTSPORT's newer forged six-piston caliper, built off the TT8703's data but moved to a higher-strength forging process. A forged body flexes less under load than a cast one, so more of the pedal effort goes into clamping the pad against the rotor instead of deforming the caliper — that's what firms up the pedal on a heavy vehicle like the Highlander.

  • Rear TT8901 forged four-piston caliper is purpose-built for rear-axle duty, adding real clamping force where the stock rear brakes were doing the least work.
  • Larger 355mm front and rear rotors carry more mass and surface area than stock, so they absorb and shed more heat before fade sets in.
  • Drilled rotor faces help clear off-gas and improve initial bite, while the Dacromet coating on the front rotor resists corrosion.

Custom color-matched brackets tie the calipers into a consistent red front-to-rear look, so the visual upgrade behind the 18-inch wheels reads as intentional rather than mismatched.

What wheel size does this Highlander big brake kit fit behind?
This build was fitted on an 18-inch wheel Toyota Highlander, with the TT8703S front kit and TT8901 rear kit both clearing the stock wheel size.
What's included in the front and rear kits on this Highlander?
The front axle uses a TTSPORT TT8703S forged six-piston caliper with a 355x32mm Dacromet-coated, drilled rotor. The rear axle uses a TTSPORT TT8901 forged four-piston caliper with a 355x28mm drilled rotor, both paired with custom red-finished caliper brackets.
