Toyota Camry Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440
The Camry has built its reputation on being unkillable, not fast — but the current 2.5T car, with 209 hp and 250 Nm of torque on tap, throws a wrinkle into that reputation. The factory single-piston front brakes were sized for a mid-size sedan doing mid-size-sedan things, not for hauling down a turbocharged engine that spools up quickly. This Camry owner swapped in a TTSPORT TT5440 forged four-piston big brake kit to give the pedal some real bite back.
Under braking, a single-piston caliper only clamps from one side and relies on the caliper body sliding to apply even pad pressure — a setup that works fine for daily commuting but runs out of consistency once you start asking more of it. Add in a torquey turbo four that gets up to speed fast, and the stock system can start feeling soft and inconsistent well before you'd expect.
Vehicle & Kit Specs
The build swapped the front axle over to a forged fixed caliper and a larger rotor, paired with a bracket cut to match the factory knuckle geometry — no spacers, no adapters.

The TT5440 caliper body is forged under roughly 3,000 tons of pressure rather than cast, which packs the aluminum grain tighter for a caliper that's both stronger and lighter than a cast equivalent. Its four stainless pistons and OEM-spec seals are built to racing-caliper standards, which is part of why this caliper shows up so often in street and light track builds.
Why It Works
- A forged fixed caliper clamps from both sides at once, so pedal input translates directly into pad pressure instead of getting soaked up by a sliding caliper body.
- Stepping up to a 330x28mm high-carbon heat-treated rotor adds mass and surface area over the stock disc, giving the system more thermal capacity to resist fade during repeated hard stops.
- The bracket is machined to the Camry's factory knuckle data, so the bigger caliper and rotor sit inside 17-inch wheels without spacers or offset changes.
- Stainless steel brake lines replace the factory rubber lines, cutting down on line expansion under pressure so pedal feel stays firmer and more consistent.
