Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG (W222) Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Evolution

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The W222-generation Mercedes-AMG S63 pairs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 612 hp and 900 Nm of torque, good for a 3.5-second 0-100 km/h run through a 9-speed automatic and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. A car with that much thrust needs braking hardware that can shed heat just as fast as the engine builds speed — which is why this build kept the AMG factory one-piece six-piston caliper and focused the upgrade on the rotor and lines.

The AMG caliper stayed in place; the rotor and brake lines were swapped for a carbon-ceramic disc and Goodridge stainless lines, both installed behind the car's stock 20-inch wheels.

Vehicle & Kit Specs

Item Specification
Vehicle Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, W222 platform, 20-inch factory wheels
Front caliper AMG factory one-piece (monobloc) six-piston caliper, retained
Front rotor TTSPORT 420mm x 40mm PCCB-style carbon-ceramic rotor
Brake lines Goodridge stainless steel braided lines

Why It Works

Carbon-ceramic rotors weigh a fraction of an equivalent iron disc. Less rotating mass at each corner means less unsprung weight for the suspension to control and less rotational inertia for the engine — and the brakes — to fight against. As the build's own team put it, shedding a pound of rotating mass does more for a car than adding a horsepower.

  • A 420mm x 40mm rotor carries more thermal mass than the stock disc, so it can absorb more heat before fade sets in on repeated hard stops.
  • Keeping the AMG factory caliper means no new bracket to engineer and no fitment guesswork — the geometry stays as designed, and the setup clears the factory 20-inch wheels with no spacers.
  • Goodridge stainless lines resist expansion under pedal pressure, so more of the driver's input goes into clamping force instead of hose flex.

FAQ

Does this kit fit behind the factory 20-inch wheels?
Yes. On this W222 S63 AMG build, the upgraded rotor and caliper package was run with the car's factory 20-inch wheels with no fitment issues noted.
Do I need a new caliper to run this rotor upgrade?
No. This build retains the AMG factory one-piece six-piston caliper and pairs it with a new carbon-ceramic rotor and Goodridge stainless lines.
What rotor size is used in this build?
The front rotor is a 420mm x 40mm PCCB-style carbon-ceramic disc.
