Mazda 3 Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The Mazda 3's low stance and sharp front end draw plenty of attention, but the factory brake hardware isn't built to match that look — or to handle repeated hard stops. This owner addressed both with a TTSPORT front and rear brake upgrade that keeps everything tucked behind the car's stock 17-inch wheels.

Mazda 3 front wheel with TTSPORT 5440 four-piston metallic caliper installed behind 17-inch rim

The build centers on the TTSPORT Classic 5440, a forged four-piston front caliper finished in a metallic tone with a special oxidation surface treatment. It's paired with a TT 330x28mm dacromet-coated curved-slot rotor up front and a 325x10mm custom curved-slot oversized rotor at the rear — all fitting inside the car's existing 17-inch wheels.

The 5440's two-piece forged aluminum body resists the flex that a single-piece caliper sees under hard braking, which is a big part of why pedal feel firms up after the swap — less caliper deformation means more of pedal input translates directly into pad clamping force.

Why It Works

  • Four-piston forged caliper spreads clamping force more evenly across the pad than a stock single- or dual-piston design, improving modulation.
  • The 330x28mm front rotor carries more thermal mass than the factory disc, helping it absorb and shed heat before fade sets in.
  • The whole setup was confirmed to clear the Mazda 3's stock 17-inch wheels, no aftermarket wheel change required.
  • The 325x10mm rear rotor fills out what was previously open space inside the rear wheel, matching rear braking capacity to the upgraded front rather than leaving it as a weak link.
