Hyundai Mistra Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440
This Hyundai Mistra (Ming Tu) came in with the soft, long-travel pedal typical of the car's factory single-piston setup — fine for daily commuting, less confidence-inspiring if you actually enjoy driving one of the turbocharged 1.6T versions. The owner wanted more pedal feedback and stopping power without giving up the stock 17-inch wheels, so the shop installed a TTSPORT Classic Series 5440 front kit.
The Mistra rides on a multi-link independent rear suspension and an electric power steering system with comfort, normal, and sport modes — a chassis that can actually use the extra brake bite. The metallic-finish TT5440 caliper drops in behind the stock 17-inch wheel with room to spare, so the upgrade is purely functional: bigger rotor, bigger pistons, stiffer caliper body, same wheels.

Why It Works
The 5440 uses a two-piece forged aluminum body rather than a single stock casting. Forging is denser and stiffer than casting, and the split-body design resists the flex that lets a caliper's fingers splay open under hard braking — that flex is a big part of why a factory caliper can feel spongy even with fresh pads and fluid. Less flex means the pedal moves the pads, not the caliper body.
- Four-piston clamping (38mm x2 / 41mm x2) spreads pad pressure more evenly than a single-piston sliding caliper, improving pad wear and modulation.
- The 330x28mm rotor adds swept area and mass over the stock disc, which means more surface for the pads to work and more thermal mass to absorb heat before fade sets in.
- A bracket machined to the Mistra's own hub and spindle data keeps rotor-to-caliper alignment correct, which is what prevents the pulsation and vibration that come from an ill-fitting big-brake conversion.
