Honda Odyssey Hybrid Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 9040

Honda's latest Odyssey Hybrid landed in April, and one owner didn't wait long to start wrenching. The van runs Honda's i-MMD hybrid system — a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle four paired with an electric motor for a combined 158 kW — routed through an E-CVT. Barely a month after taking delivery, the owner brought it in for a front brake upgrade to match the powertrain's output.

The build: a TTSPORT TT9040 forged six-piston caliper matched to a 355mm x 32mm Dacromet-coated curved-vane rotor, plus TTSPORT stainless steel brake lines, all tucked behind the Odyssey's stock 18-inch wheels.

Why It Works

A forged monobloc body flexes less under load than a stamped or cast caliper, which is what keeps pedal feel firm instead of soft when you're leaning on the brakes. TT9040 uses three different piston diameters per side, front-to-rear, so the pad presses down more evenly across its face instead of dragging at one edge.

• Bigger rotor mass at 355mm x 32mm gives the system more thermal capacity than the factory disc, which matters on a heavier hybrid platform carrying battery weight.
• The Dacromet coating on the rotor resists surface corrosion, which keeps braking consistent through daily driving and weather rather than just on a track day.
• Stainless lines replace the factory rubber hose, cutting down on the hose expansion that eats into pedal firmness under hard braking.
• This kit was fitted and driven away on the Odyssey's factory 18-inch wheels, no spacers involved.
