Honda Civic (10th Gen) Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The 10th generation Honda Civic is one of the most modified platforms on the road, and its brakes are usually the first thing to get upgraded. This build swaps the front stoppers for a TTSPORT Classic 5440 forged four-piston kit — but the owner went further, matching the caliper, bracket, and rotor color for a setup that stands out even in a sea of other Civic big brake builds.

The upgrade package: a TT5440 forged four-piston caliper, a TT Dacromet slotted rotor, a custom color-matched caliper bracket, and TT stainless steel brake lines. It's the same core hardware found on plenty of TT5440 installs — the difference here is the finish work.

Why It Works

Close-up of the TT5440 forged four-piston caliper with color-matched bracket on the Civic

A two-piece forged aluminum body is stiffer than a cast caliper under the same clamping load — that rigidity is what keeps pedal feel firm instead of spongy when the pads bite down. The 5440's four pistons (two 38mm, two 41mm) spread clamping force more evenly across the pad than a smaller single- or dual-piston OEM caliper, which helps even pad wear and consistent bite.

  • Forged two-piece caliper body for a more rigid, direct pedal feel
  • Dacromet slotted rotor for corrosion resistance and gas/debris venting
  • Vehicle-specific bracket keeps the caliper on the factory mounting geometry

Stainless steel brake lines also matter here: unlike rubber lines, they don't expand under pressure, so the pedal transmits pad clamping force more directly instead of losing some of it to line flex.
