Honda Civic (10th Gen) Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 9040
For Civic owners, there's rarely just one round of modding — most end up spending as much on upgrades as they did on the car itself. It's a testament to how much the platform can take and how much room it leaves for real performance work. This 10th-generation Civic came in on 18-inch wheels with a stock brake setup that couldn't keep up with everything else that had already been done to it, so the owner went straight to a big brake kit for the front axle.
The shop built out a custom silver kit for this car — a finish that reads clean and understated behind the wheel rather than shouting for attention, while still looking purposeful up close. The package: a TT9040 forged six-piston caliper, a TTSPORT 355x32mm slotted rotor, and stainless steel brake lines.
Vehicle & Kit Specs
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Vehicle | 10th-generation Honda Civic, 18-inch wheels |
| Front caliper | TTSPORT TT9040 forged six-piston caliper, opposed layout with three different piston bore sizes per side, custom silver finish |
| Front rotor | TTSPORT 355 x 32mm slotted rotor |
| Brake lines | TTSPORT stainless steel brake lines |
The slotted rotor design is meant to help vent heat and keep the swept surface clean under repeated hard stops, which matters more once a car's making more power and getting driven harder than stock. On the caliper side, the six pistons are split into three different sizes per side rather than one uniform bore — a layout meant to apply clamping force more evenly across the pad as it presses in, for a more linear, predictable pedal.
Why It Works
- A forged fixed six-piston caliper flexes less under hard braking than a stock sliding caliper, so more of your pedal input goes straight to clamping force instead of getting absorbed by caliper deformation.
- Stepping up to a 355mm rotor adds mass and swept area over the stock disc, giving the system more thermal capacity to resist fade during repeated hard stops.
- The 355mm rotor and TT9040 caliper are sized to clear the Civic's factory 18-inch wheels, so the upgrade goes on without wheel spacers or a wheel swap.
Once bolted up, the fit filled out the 18-inch wheel's inner diameter noticeably compared to the stock disc, and the silver caliper is visible through the spokes without looking oversized for the car.
