Honda Civic Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440

This Civic is barely a year old — still showing off its factory shine and 18-inch wheels — but the stock brakes were already feeling soft at the pedal, the way most compact-car calipers do once you start driving with any enthusiasm. The owner went with a TTSPORT Classic 5440 forged four-piston kit up front, paired with a Dacromet-coated slotted rotor and stainless steel lines, to firm up the pedal without giving up the factory wheel fitment.

The car sits low and clean on its 18s, and that wheel size is exactly why the fitment check matters here — go too big on the front kit and you're stuck running spacers or a different wheel. The goal for this build was a caliper and rotor package that would tuck in behind the stock wheel with room to spare.

Before the wrenches came out, the shop laid out the full kit: the TT5440 forged four-piston caliper, a Dacromet-coated slotted rotor, and TTSPORT stainless steel brake lines. Everything is matched to the Civic's hub and knuckle geometry, so there's no guessing on brackets or fittings once installation starts.

Why It Works

A two-piece forged caliper body flexes far less under pressure than the stamped-steel sliding caliper the Civic ships with. Less flex at the caliper means more of your pedal effort turns into clamping force on the rotor instead of getting soaked up by the housing — that's the difference between a firm pedal and a mushy one.

• Four-piston forged caliper adds pad contact area and clamping consistency over the stock single- or dual-piston setup.
• The Dacromet-coated slotted rotor resists corrosion and helps the slots keep the pad surface clean under repeated stops.
• Stainless steel lines don't balloon under pressure the way rubber lines can, so pedal input stays direct and consistent.

Installation Gallery

With the wheel off, the shop pulled the stock caliper and rotor, bolted on the vehicle-specific bracket, and mounted the new rotor — tucking the fender liner in slightly so it wouldn't rub the larger disc. The TT5440 caliper came with pads already fitted to speed up the install, then the stock brake hose was swapped for the TTSPORT stainless line before the system was bled and topped off with fresh fluid.
