BMW 5 Series Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Racing 380x36 Rotor

This 2018 BMW 5 Series 525Li belongs to an owner who clearly likes to tinker — inside two years of ownership the car had already picked up a full run of exterior and hardware changes. The brake system was next on the list, and instead of a plain rotor swap, the owner went with a six-piston caliper and a slotted TTSPORT rotor to back it up.

The build: an AP8520 six-piston caliper matched to a TTSPORT 380×36mm two-piece slotted "fish-hook" rotor, connected with TTSPORT stainless steel brake lines. All of it sits behind the car's 19-inch factory-style "bird's nest" alloy wheels.

Why It Works

A six-piston caliper spreads clamping force across a wider pad, which helps even out pad wear and gives the driver a more progressive, easier-to-modulate pedal compared to a stock single- or twin-piston caliper. Stepping the rotor up to 380mm also increases the effective braking radius and the amount of iron available to soak up heat, which matters most on repeated hard stops.
