Brake Rotor Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
1. Initial Installation
- Old Brake Pads with New Rotors: If installing new brake rotors with used brake pads, ensure the pads' friction surfaces are evenly sanded smooth before installation.
- Rotor Surface Cleaning: Thoroughly clean new rotor surfaces before installation to avoid brake slippage or unnecessarily extending the bedding-in period.
- Hub and Rotor Contact Surfaces: Clean the rotor’s center bore and the hub contact surface using a specialized brake cleaner, then lightly sand it to a smooth finish. This prevents uneven mounting caused by rust, which could lead to rotor vibration and wobble.
- Rotor Bedding-in Period: After installing new brake rotors, a proper bedding-in process is required.
