Brake Kit Care Guide

A brake kit is not just a pair of larger calipers. Calipers, rotors, pads, hoses, brackets, rotor hats, mounting hardware, brake fluid, wheel clearance, and bedding procedure all work together as one system.

This guide explains how to confirm the right TTSPORT brake kit before ordering, what to check before installation, and how to care for the system after installation.

1. Before Ordering: Confirm the Full Vehicle Setup

Do not order a brake kit by vehicle name alone. The correct kit depends on the vehicle, axle position, wheel package, driving use, and brake system layout.

• Vehicle year, make, model, trim, market version, and chassis code if available
• Front or rear axle position
• Current brake rotor diameter, thickness, and caliper type if known
• Wheel diameter, width, offset, spoke shape, and inner barrel clearance
• Tire size and vehicle weight changes from armor, cargo, towing equipment, or track setup
• Driving use: daily street, towing, mountain driving, off-road, HPDE, rally, drift, track, or competition
• Whether the vehicle uses electronic parking brake, brake pad wear sensors, ABS / ESC systems, or special hydraulic routing

Brake kits are application-specific. A visually similar kit can still have the wrong rotor offset, bracket geometry, hose fitting, caliper position, or wheel clearance requirement.

2. Understand What Type of Brake Kit You Are Ordering

Different TTSPORT brake kit series use different hardware layouts. Always confirm what the kit includes before purchase.

Do not assume every brake kit includes the same parts. Package contents vary by product series, vehicle application, and final order configuration.

3. Confirm the Kit Specification Before Payment

Before finalizing the order, review the kit specification carefully. Confirm the brake kit is matched to your vehicle and wheel setup, not only to the model name.

• Confirm vehicle application and axle position
• Confirm caliper model, piston count, and caliper color if applicable
• Confirm rotor diameter, rotor thickness, rotor construction, and left / right direction if applicable
• Confirm brake pad compound and intended use
• Confirm brake hose fitting type and routing compatibility
• Confirm whether caliper brackets, rotor hats, mounting hardware, wear sensors, or brake fluid are included
• Confirm minimum wheel diameter and spoke clearance requirement
• Confirm lead time, shipping method, and final invoice details

If any part is not listed in the final order or product page, do not assume it is included.

4. Before Installation: Inspect the Complete Kit

Inspect every component before installation. Do not modify, grind, drill, stretch, force, or space brake kit components to make them fit.

• Check all received parts against the order confirmation
• Inspect calipers, rotors, brackets, hats, hoses, pads, and hardware for shipping damage
• Confirm left / right caliper and rotor orientation where applicable
• Confirm rotor size, pad shape, hose fittings, bracket layout, and hardware style before installation
• Clean all mounting faces before assembly
• Confirm torque values, bedding procedure, fluid type, and bleeding procedure before starting work
• Use a qualified brake technician for installation

5. Installation Checks

Correct installation is as important as the brake kit itself. A properly engineered kit can still perform poorly if installed with dirty mounting faces, incorrect torque, poor hose routing, or trapped air in the hydraulic system.

6. Bedding and First Heat Cycle

Brake pads and rotors need a controlled bedding process before full performance is available. Bedding helps create an even transfer layer on the rotor surface, improving bite, pedal consistency, and vibration resistance.

• Follow the bedding procedure supplied with the exact pad and rotor compound
• Use moderate heat first unless the supplied procedure requires otherwise
• Do not start with emergency stops on a fresh pad / rotor setup
• Avoid holding the brake pedal while stopped on very hot pads and rotors
• Allow the brakes to cool after bedding
• After the first heat cycle, inspect pad contact, rotor surface, hose routing, hardware security, and fluid leaks

Street pads, race pads, iron rotors, two-piece rotors, and carbon ceramic rotors may require different bedding procedures. Use the procedure supplied with the specific kit.

7. Initial Break-In Period

After installation and bedding, give the system a short break-in period before aggressive use. Pedal feel, pad contact, dust output, and noise may continue to settle after the first drives.

• Avoid repeated emergency stops unless required for safety
• Avoid hard track use until bedding and inspection are complete
• Monitor pedal feel, vibration, noise, smell, and rotor surface appearance
• Recheck for fluid leaks after the first road test
• Recheck torque where the kit instructions require post-heat-cycle inspection
• Contact TTSPORT if brake feel changes suddenly after installation

8. Routine Care and Inspection

Brake kits need regular inspection, especially after track use, off-road use, towing, mountain driving, winter salt exposure, or any brake service.

• Inspect brake pads for uneven wear, taper, glazing, cracking, or backing-plate damage
• Inspect rotors for cracks, heavy scoring, hot spots, minimum thickness, and runout
• Inspect calipers for fluid seepage, piston movement, dust boot damage, and uneven pad retraction
• Inspect brake hoses for rubbing, cuts, swelling, leaks, and fitting corrosion
• Inspect brackets, rotor hats, and mounting hardware for cracks, fretting, corrosion, or loosening
• Check brake fluid level, color, service age, and boiling-point suitability for your driving use
• Clean brake dust from wheels and calipers regularly, especially after wet, salty, or track conditions
