TTSPORT EMB6/ES4 Brakes Power Porsche 718 Endurance Win at GIC

A TTSPORT-equipped Porsche 718, built by 8090 Racing, climbed from P2/P3 to a first-place finish in a one-hour endurance race at the GIC Super Track Festival, running the front EMB6 and rear ES4 big brake kit back-to-back with a time-attack qualifier.

A One-Hour Endurance Race at GIC Super Track Festival

The Porsche 718 is a mid-engine platform known for sharp handling, but that same layout traps heat around the brakes. Push a 718 hard for long stretches and most stock or half-measure setups will fade — the pedal goes soft right when you need it most. We wanted to find out if our system could hold up under the worst-case scenario a club racer will actually face: a time-attack qualifier immediately followed by a full one-hour endurance stint, back to back, no cool-down.

The test car was a fully prepped 718 built by 8090 Racing, running on 18-inch track wheels for the event. The plan was simple: put the car through qualifying, then straight into the endurance race, and see whether braking performance held steady from the green flag to the checkered flag.

A Masterclass in Consistency

The drivers started the race in P2 and P3. As the laps piled up, other competitors began losing stopping power to heat soak — a familiar story in endurance racing, where equipment gets tested harder than any single hot lap ever could. Our braking stayed linear from lap one to the finish, which let the drivers brake later and deeper than the cars around them.

That consistency turned into overtakes. With no fear of the pedal going long or soft mid-corner, the team closed the gap through the field and took the win. It's the kind of result that only shows up over a full race distance, not a single qualifying lap.

Why Heat Management Decided the Race

Brake fade isn't mysterious — it's physics. Every time you brake, kinetic energy turns into heat at the rotor face, and that heat has to go somewhere. If it migrates into the brake fluid faster than it can dissipate, the fluid can approach its boiling point, vapor bubbles form in the caliper, and the pedal goes long and spongy because you're now compressing gas instead of fluid. Mid-engine cars like the 718 are especially prone to this because of tighter brake packaging and less airflow than a front-engine layout. The driver's post-race feedback matched what the data showed: "Outstanding. Virtually no fade, and a firm, confident pedal that felt on par with top-tier European motorsport brands."

Front: Mono Series EMB6, 6-piston monoblock. The EMB6 is CNC-machined from a single piece of forged aluminum, which gives it the rigidity for immediate pedal response — no flex under load to eat your feel. The bigger factor in this race was the pistons themselves: they're vented stainless steel, not aluminum. Stainless has lower thermal conductivity, so it slows heat transfer from the rotor into the fluid — effectively a firewall between the friction surface and the hydraulic system.

Rear: Evolution Series ES4, 4-piston caliper. A lot of 718 upgrades stop at the front axle and leave the rear brakes stock, which throws off the car's balance. We paired the EMB6 with our ES4 rear caliper specifically to keep the 718's factory-like brake bias intact, so the car rotates correctly under trail-braking instead of locking the rear under load. The ES4's skeletonized body also cuts unsprung weight, which helps the suspension react to curbs and bumps a fraction quicker.

Front and rear were engineered as one system, not two separate parts bolted on and hoped for the best. The EMB6/ES4 pairing bolts directly to the 718's factory hub, fits behind the 18-inch wheels used at GIC, and runs on the stock master cylinder — the goal was a firmer, more communicative pedal without the long travel that oversized kits sometimes introduce.

A one-hour endurance race is a hard place to hide a weak brake package — heat soak finds it every time. This result gives us real track data behind the EMB6/ES4 kit on the 718 platform, and we'll keep running it in longer events to build on it.
