Zhongce Westlake Tire Team Takes Bronze at the China Auto Drift Championship on TTSPORT Brakes

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The Zhongce Westlake Tire Team closed out the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao group of the China Auto Drift Championship with a third-place finish, capping a weekend of hard entries and tight tandem runs on cars running TTSPORT big brake kits.

The China Auto Drift Championship's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao group draws some of the sharpest tandem drift talent in the region, and this round was no different. After a full slate of qualifying and battle rounds, the Zhongce Westlake Tire Team came away with third overall — a result that reflects consistent car control lap after lap, not a single lucky pass.

Tandem drift judging rewards a driver who can hold a line, close a gap, and still brake late and clean into the next transition without breaking angle. That kind of repeatable precision starts with a chassis the driver trusts — and brakes that respond the same way on lap one and lap twenty.

The car carrying the Zhongce Westlake Tire livery ran a TTSPORT big brake kit on the front axle all weekend, from practice through the final battle. It's the kind of setup teams lean on specifically because drift punishes brakes in a way circuit racing usually doesn't.

Why Brakes Matter More in Drift Than People Think

Drift looks like a throttle sport from the outside, but every entry starts with the brake pedal. A driver has to load the front tires hard and fast to kick the rear loose, then modulate pedal pressure through the transition while still managing wheel speed for the next clip point. That means the caliper has to deliver the same bite on the tenth entry as the first, with a pedal that doesn't go soft as rotor temperatures climb from repeated heat cycles.

A caliper that flexes under load turns a sharp entry into a mushy one, and a rigid body helps the driver feel exactly how much pressure is going to the pads instead of guessing. That pedal feedback is what let the Zhongce Westlake driver commit to late braking points run after run without second-guessing the car.
