The 5440's body is a two-piece forged aluminum unit rather than a cast one, which matters when you're pushing hard: forged aluminum holds its shape under repeated hard stops, while a cast caliper flexes more under the same clamping load and lets pedal travel creep longer with each application.

Why It Works

• Opposed four-piston layout with star-profile racing pistons spreads clamping force evenly across the pad, which gives a firmer, more linear pedal than a stock single-piston sliding caliper.
• Stepping up to a 330x28mm rotor adds swept area and thermal mass over the factory disc, so the system has more heat capacity to absorb before fade sets in.
• The 5440's thin caliper profile is sized to clear 17-inch wheels — the size already on this Beetle — with TTSPORT specifying 86mm of minimum spoke clearance for a proper fit.
• Stainless steel brake lines replace the factory rubber hoses, cutting down on line expansion under pressure so pedal input translates more directly into clamping force.
