Toyota Crown Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440
This 2015 Toyota Crown 2.0T Fashion Edition had racked up four years of daily driving, and it was time for a brake refresh. Rather than swap in another set of OEM parts, the owner went with a TTSPORT big brake kit — a straightforward way to get more stopping power and a firmer pedal out of a car that's earned its keep.
The plan was simple: a four-piston TT5440 caliper up front and a matching four-piston TT7600 setup out back, both paired with 330mm curved-vane rotors. The car's stock 17-inch wheels stayed on, no spacers needed.

A four-front/four-rear caliper combo is less common than the usual six-front/four-rear or four-front/two-rear pairings. Both the TT5440 and TT7600 run four pistons, but they're not the same unit: the TT5440 is a racing-oriented caliper with stainless steel pistons and greater total piston area, so it still carries the bigger share of front braking duty.
Why It Works
- Larger piston area on the TT5440 front caliper means more clamping force is delivered to the pads for a given amount of pedal pressure, which is felt as a firmer, more responsive pedal.
- Stepping up from the stock rotor diameter to matching 330mm rotors front and rear adds swept area and thermal mass, helping both ends resist fade under repeated hard stops.
- Both calipers and rotors were sized to clear the Crown's factory 17-inch wheels, so the whole kit went on without spacers or a wheel change.
Fitting the front and rear rotors at the same 330mm diameter is a departure from the typical setup where the front disc is noticeably larger than the rear. On this Crown, it gives the car a more balanced brake package front to back.
