The Nissan Livina isn't a car you see modified often — it built its reputation on interior space and value, not track manners. But like most Japanese economy cars, its factory brake tuning leans soft, and this owner wanted a pedal that felt more direct without touching the car's daily-driver character. The fix: a TTSPORT TT5040S big brake kit.

The Livina runs the HR16DE 1.6L four-cylinder — 105 hp, 77kW at 5,200 rpm, and 150 N·m of torque at 4,400 rpm. It's not a lot of power to slow down, but the stock brake calibration still felt vague at the pedal, which is common on Japanese economy platforms tuned for a soft, forgiving initial bite. Swapping in the TT5040S kit was aimed squarely at sharpening that feel.

• The hollowed-out caliper design keeps weight near 2kg per unit, holding down unsprung mass while keeping the structure rigid where it matters.
• The two-piece rotor's aluminum hat trims rotational weight, while the drilled face and curved venting clear pad dust and debris so the pad keeps better, more consistent contact with the rotor surface.
• Stainless braided lines resist expansion under pressure better than stock rubber hose, so pedal input translates more directly into clamping force instead of getting absorbed by line flex.

Up close, the TT5040S caliper shows the hollowed-out, lightweight casting and the staggered bores that let braking force ramp up progressively rather than arrive in one hit.
