Nissan A31 Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440
This 1988 Nissan A31 sees regular duty on the drift course, at gymkhana events, and in 0-400m sprints, and its owners at 380 Auto Club decided the stock brake hardware needed to catch up with everything else on the car. The fix was a full TTSPORT front-and-rear big brake package: TT5440 four-piston forged calipers up front on 330x28mm rotors, and a dual-caliper TT7700 setup at each rear corner - one circuit for the service brake, a second dedicated to the drift handbrake - all tucked behind the car's 18-inch wheels.
A Chassis Built for the Drift Scene
Introduced in 1988, the A31 was Nissan's mid-size FR sedan, sold in various markets under the Bluebird and Cefiro names. Three decades on, clean examples are getting harder to find, but a large parts supply, simple mechanicals, and rear-wheel drive kept it relevant with drift and gymkhana builders long after Nissan moved on. Photos here are courtesy of 380 Auto Club, a China-based drift and car-meet club founded by veteran drift driver Gu Lixing. This particular A31 wears a Bosozoku-inspired body over drift-ready mechanicals, including a lowered stance paired with 18-inch wheels.

Why It Works
- The 5440 body is forged from aluminum alloy under roughly 3,000 tons of press force rather than cast, giving it more rigidity and less flex under hard, repeated braking than a cast caliper of similar size.
- Opposed racing-grade pistons and a slim caliper profile keep the unit compact enough to clear 18-inch wheels without spacers.
- Imported seals help manage heat at the piston bores, which keeps the pedal consistent and cuts down on brake noise during sustained use.
- Running two independent TT7700 calipers per rear wheel separates service braking from the handbrake circuit, letting the driver lock the rears on demand without touching front brake pressure - the same layout used on many purpose-built drift cars.
