GAC GS8 Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 8703

by LinLynn 16 Jul 2026

The GAC Trumpchi GS8 is a big, heavy seven-seat SUV — a 2.0T turbo four making 148 kW (201 PS) and 300 Nm through a 6-speed automatic, riding on a suspension tuned for comfort. During braking tests, that soft setup showed its downside: noticeable nose-dive and a pronounced forward lean under hard stops. A vehicle this size needs a brake system that can actually control that weight transfer, so the owner went with a front six-piston / rear four-piston TTSPORT dual-caliper setup.

Up front, the stock caliper was swapped for a TTSPORT 8703 cast six-piston caliper matched to a 380×34mm high-carbon, heat-treated drilled rotor. Out back, a TTSPORT 8903 cast four-piston caliper and 380×28mm rotor handle service braking, with a dedicated TTSPORT EPB caliper preserving the factory electronic parking brake. All of it was installed under the GS8's factory 19-inch wheels.

Vehicle & Kit Specs

Item Specification
Vehicle GAC Trumpchi GS8, 2.0T, 19-inch factory wheels
Front caliper TTSPORT 8703 cast six-piston caliper
Front rotor TT 380×34mm high-carbon, heat-treated drilled rotor
Rear caliper TTSPORT 8903 cast four-piston caliper + TT EPB electronic parking brake caliper (dual-caliper setup)
Rear rotor TT 380×28mm high-carbon, heat-treated drilled rotor
Lines / hardware TT stainless steel brake lines

Why It Works

  • The front 8703 caliper uses a staggered piston layout — smaller and larger pistons across the same caliper body — which pushes the pad against the rotor more evenly. That means a more linear pedal and less uneven pad wear over time.
  • Steel pistons in the front caliper hold up to sustained heat better than lighter alloys, which matters when a heavy SUV is repeatedly shedding speed from highway pace.
  • The 380mm drilled rotors — 34mm up front, 28mm at the rear — carry more mass and surface area than the stock discs, giving the system more thermal capacity before fade sets in.
  • Since the GS8 uses an electronic parking brake, the rear axle can't just run a single big performance caliper. TTSPORT's split-cast EPB caliper sits alongside the TT8903 four-piston unit, keeping the factory parking-brake mechanism fully functional without cutting or rewiring anything.

What brake hardware does this Trumpchi GS8 kit use?
The build pairs a TTSPORT 8703 cast six-piston front caliper with a 380x34mm high-carbon heat-treated drilled rotor, and a TTSPORT 8903 cast four-piston rear caliper with a 380x28mm rotor, plus stainless steel brake lines.
How does the kit handle the GS8's electronic parking brake?
Because the GS8 uses an electronic parking brake, the rear axle runs a dual-caliper setup — the TT8903 performance caliper handles service braking while a separate TTSPORT EPB caliper, a split-cast mechanical unit, keeps the factory electronic parking brake working without modification.
What wheel size was this kit installed under?
This installation was done on the GS8's 19-inch wheels.
