Ford Focus Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 5440
The Ford Focus built its reputation on sharp handling and a rally-bred chassis, but the factory single-piston front caliper doesn't do that chassis justice once you start pushing the car. This case study covers a Focus riding on 17-inch wheels that traded its stock brake hardware for a TTSPORT Classic 5440 forged four-piston kit paired with 343mm rotors.
The build list was straightforward: a TT5440 forged four-piston caliper, a TT 343x28mm high-carbon heat-treated curved-vane rotor, and TTSPORT stainless steel brake lines — all fitted behind the car's stock 17-inch wheels with no spacers needed.

Why It Works
Swap the numbers side by side and the reason the pedal feels different becomes obvious. A single-piston floating caliper clamps from one side and relies on the caliper body sliding to apply even pressure — that path flexes under hard braking, which is where a soft, long pedal comes from. The 5440's two-piece forged body is a fixed, four-piston design, so both pad faces get clamped directly with less flex in the load path.
Going from the factory rotor to the 343x28mm TTSPORT rotor also adds mass and swept area, which means more heat capacity before the brakes start to fade on a hard stop. The curved-vane, high-carbon rotor design is built to help that heat move out of the disc rather than sit and soak into the pads.
- Forged four-piston caliper replaces the factory single-piston unit for a firmer, more consistent pedal
- 343x28mm rotor is larger than the stock disc, adding heat capacity and friction area
- Fits behind the car's factory 17-inch wheels with a vehicle-specific bracket, no spacers
- Stainless steel lines replace the factory rubber lines for a more direct, less spongy pedal response
