BYD Song MAX Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 9200

The BYD Song MAX is a mid-size MPV built around a 1.5T turbo engine quick enough to hit 0-100 km/h in about 4.9 seconds — plenty of pace for a vehicle its size. The factory brakes, though, weren't asked to keep up with that kind of acceleration. For this build, the shop fitted the owner's Song MAX with a TTSPORT 9200 forged split four-piston front caliper paired with a TT 330x28mm high-carbon heat-treated rotor and stainless steel lines.

The car rides on 17-inch factory wheels, which sets the ceiling for rotor and caliper size on any big brake kit. The TT9200 package was sized specifically to work within that wheel — a 330x28mm rotor and a sky-blue four-piston caliper that fill the wheel face without crowding the spokes.

Why It Works

• Forged construction gives the caliper more rigidity and less weight than a cast unit, so the pistons respond faster and pedal feel firms up.
• The 330x28mm rotor adds more braking surface and mass than the stock disc, giving the system more heat capacity to work with under repeated stops.
• The kit was sized to clear the Song MAX's factory 17-inch wheels, so there's no spacer or wheel swap needed to run it.
• Stainless steel lines replace the factory rubber hoses, cutting hose expansion under pressure for a more direct pedal.
• TT DOT 5.1 fluid's 260°C dry / 180°C wet boiling points give more margin against fluid boil and fade during hard, repeated braking.

Up close, the forged caliper body and vehicle-specific bracket show the tighter machining tolerances that come with a forged part versus a cast one — a difference that shows up as more consistent clamping and a firmer pedal once the kit is bled and bedded in.
