BMW 3 Series (F35) Big Brake Kit Upgrade / TTSPORT Classic 9040
The sixth-generation BMW 3 Series (F35), launched in 2012, still pulls hard thanks to the N20 and B48 four-cylinder engines — peak torque arrives as low as 1,350 rpm. But strong low-end punch means the factory brakes have to work overtime, and on this car the stock pedal had gone soft under repeated hard stops. The owner brought it in for a TTSPORT 9040 six-piston caliper kit paired with a TT355 x32mm high-carbon heat-treated rotor.
The build swaps the factory single- or twin-piston front caliper for the TTSPORT 9040, a two-piece forged six-piston unit, matched to a 355mm x 32mm high-carbon heat-treated rotor and stainless brake lines. All of it clears the car's 18-inch wheels with no spacers required.

Why It Works
The TT9040's two-piece forged construction runs stiffer than a stock caliper under load, so pedal force goes into clamping the pad instead of flexing the caliper body. Because the six pistons aren't all the same bore diameter, pad pressure builds more evenly across the pad face, which is what gives the pedal a more linear, predictable feel from light taps to hard stops.
- Forged, two-piece caliper body resists flex versus a stock caliper under hard braking
- 355mm x 32mm rotor adds mass and surface area for better heat capacity than the factory disc
- Kit clears the car's factory 18-inch wheels with no spacers
The stainless braided lines matter more than their size suggests. A stock rubber hose expands slightly under pressure, which eats into pedal travel before the pads even bite. The PTFE-core, stainless-jacketed TTSPORT line resists that expansion, so more of the force at the pedal actually reaches the caliper.

With the wheel back on, the difference is at the pedal, not just on paper: firmer travel, better modulation, and the confidence that a light tap gets a light response while a hard stop gets full bite — without needing to stand on the pedal to get there.
